Where will games be played?

Games will be played at three different venues. These venues are Mattamy Athletic Centre (formerly known as Maple Leaf Gardens), Ryerson University’s Kerr Hall or George Brown's St. James campus. See the Venue Information page for details.

How do I register my team and pay deposit?

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Start the registration process by surfing to the REGISTER YOUR TEAM page and fill out the online form.

You will be required to submit a 20% deposit to confirm your spot, which is non refundable.

Full payment must be received by April 24th. Unless otherwise requested, we will charge the registration balance on the credit card used to register the team on April 14th. If unsuccessful, we will attempt again on April 21st and April 24th.

Your team will not be considered fully registered until we receive the full registration fee. The sooner we receive your payment the earlier your spot will be confirmed and the less likely you are to be left without a spot in the Canada Cup.

To be eligible for early bird pricing your payment must be received in full by March 31st. To be eligible to play in the Canada Cup your payment must be received by April 24th.

For more details please contact Balraj Jutla at +1 (416) 457 5489 or via email:balraj@thecanadacup.com.

How do I submit my roster?

Team contacts will receive an email with a login and password to our system where they will be able to upload and create their roster.

Rosters must include, at a minimum, the following mandatory player
information:

- Full name
- Jersey number
- Date of birth (birth year alone will not be accepted)
- Position  (F = forward,  D = defense  G = goaltender)
- E-mail address

You may also enter additional information, which will be visible on  the player’s profile when you click on their name -- for example:   height, weight, hometown, shot (left or right).  After you have added  a player to the roster, you can edit the profile to add any of these  details, or to upload a photo if you wish.

If you have any questions related to rosters or player eligibility,
or need technical assistance, please contact Balraj Jutla

Note:Teams must submit their complete roster with jersey numbers by the roster submission deadline. Teams that do not submit their rosters on time are subject to a $50 late roster submission fee that must be paid before their first game.

How many players do I need to have on my team?

There is no rule on how many players your team must have, but you need to field at least five players and a goaltender to officially start a game. We recommend between 10 and 12 players per team. The maximum number of players per team is 20 as per IFF regulations.

How long are the games?

All the games at the Canada Cup are 2 x 15 minutes with the exception of the Elite Division Final and possible other promoted games, which may be up to 3 x 20 minutes. An example of a promoted game would be a televised final.

How many games does my team get to play?

Each team participating in the Canada Cup is guaranteed at least four games. Depending on your division and how far your team makes it, your team may play up to seven games.

When will the schedule be released?

The Canada Cup schedule will be released on May 10, 2015 on the website. Please note that this schedule is subject to change and your team should not plan your travel around this schedule but rather the dates the division games will be played.

Player Eligibility // Can I play in more than one division?

As a general rule, players are encouraged to play in just one division. However, there are four exceptions:
- Female players may play in the Ladies Division and in another division of their choice.
- Elite players may play in the Elite Division and the Intermediate Division; up to a maximum of three players per Intermediate team as designated on the team roster.
- Intermediate players may play in the Intermediate Division and the Recreational Division; up to a maximum of one player per Recreational team as designated on the team roster.
- High School players may play in the High School division and in one other division of their choice, provided age eligibility requirements are met.
- Underage players who have obtained an age exemption to play in an Adult Division may play in the Youth Division appropriate for their age category as well as the Adult Divisions they are eligible to play in.

Under no circumstances may a tournament participant play for more than one team in the same division.

Exceptions can be made in certain circumstances to the discretion of the committee and tournament jury - if contacted.

UPDATED:
- Players who are age eligible to play in Midget and have an age exemption to play in an Adult division may play in Midget along with the Adult divisions they are eligible to play in.
- High school players must be enrolled in a high school
- High school players must play for their own school if their school has a team - if their school does not have a team they can join another school team

Division Regulations:

For Adult Divisions, the player’s age is considered as of May 15, 2015.
For Youth Divisions the age brackets are based on the system used by Hockey Canada where the age brackets are as of December 31 of the current season, in this case the 2014-15 playing year. You can refer to the Ontario Minor Hockey Associations’ Age Reference Chart for an overview.
The High School age requirements are based on Ontario Federation of Secondary School Athletic Association (OFSAA) guidelines.  Visit OFSAA's website to learn more about the minimum and maximum ages for the High School Division.  We allow Midget, Junior and Senior age players to play together.

The age brackets will be enforced at Canada Cup and the Canada Cup committee reserves the right to do random spot checks.  Players must be born in the years listed for the division.  Team managers must indicate players' birthdates when submitting rosters and be prepared to provide proof of birthdate identification at the tournament.    Examples of accepted proof include: copy of birth certificate, government-issued ID that includes birthdate (passport, health card, driver's license), student ID card issued by a school if birthdate information is included.

Any team allowing an overage player to play on their team will be disqualified.

Players in the High School division must be enrolled as current students in high school.  High School teams may add players from other high schools if their own high school is not represented with a team. If their high school is represented, they must be released in writing by that school to play for another team.

Can underage players participate in a division with older players?

All underage players wishing to play in a division with an age requirement must submit an official waiver form containing parental approval in writing prior to the start of the tournament. This form is available upon request by from Vikrant Saili by e-mail at vikrant@thecanadacup.com.

Are there specific rules for Elite teams?

All players participating in the Elite Division must be registered as an Elite member with Floorball Canada, or provide proof of membership with their respective national federation.

In the Elite Division teams are required to have a home and an away set of jerseys with printed numbers on the front and back as well as matching shorts and socks.

What type of jerseys must my team have?

Teams are required to wear matching jerseys with printed numbers (t-shirts are not accepted). In the Elite Division teams are required to have a home and an away set of jerseys with printed numbers on the front and back as well as matching shorts and socks. In case the referees decide that one team should change shirts due to the similarity of the opponents' colours, the team listed as the away team in the official match schedule is obliged to change. Where a team does not have a second set of jerseys, pinnies may be provided by the organizers in exchange for a piece of identification.

Do we need to have a captain arm band for the team?

Team captains are required to wear an armband that identifies him or her as the captain. A limited number may be available for purchase at the venue but responsibility rests with each team to ensure its captain has an armband.

Can I recruit players from other clubs to play for my team?

The International Floorball Federation considers the Canada Cup Floorball Championship to be a International Elite Club Tournament. As a result, players that normally play for other clubs may need to request a Temporary Play transfer. This is especially true if a North American club recruits a player who is normally playing in Europe. Please read the policies concerning the Temporary Play transfer and apply early.

What is the financial goal of the Canada Cup?
